Roughometer – Road Surface Profiler
The Roughometer has been designed for our client FORCECOR to measure road surface roughness and, compared to the standard laser-based systems currently on the market, the Roughometer we designed is significantly more accurate and far less expensive.
We developed and have constructed the Roughometer to provide:
- Orientation position and rate in Roll, Pitch and Yaw
- Accurate position in DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) or RTK (Real Time Kinematic) positioning
- Acceleration and velocity
- Distance travelled
- Dead Reckoning Mode for position data even when in a covered area
The Roughometer consists of items such as accelerometers, a gyroscope, a magnetometer, DGPS, a tablet to display and store data, a RTK base station, Bluetooth, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), antennas, camera wi-fi; these items are constructed and installed on a vehicle to test the road surface. The system maps by GPS and records to the tablet.
